Description

Divided into five chapters and illustrated by Kaur, the sun and her flowers is a journey of wilting, falling, rooting, rising, and blooming. A celebration of love in all its forms.

this is the recipe of life
said my mother
as she held me in her arms as i wept
think of those flowers you plant
in the garden each year
they will teach you
that people too
must wilt
fall
root
rise
in order to bloom

This poetry book is definitely in my top three! I loved the poet’s use of imagery and words. Her sketches and drawings provided a much more beautiful experience.

These poems are stunning and well written. Unlike her first book, this one was less relatable and targeted a more specific audience. Nothing wrong with that, personally unable to relate to her background. Still beautifully written!

The poem “accent” was so meaningful to me. Thank you Rupi for fresh, deep and genuine poetry that touched my soul. I read MILK AND HONEY and THE SUN AND HER FLOWERS back to back. They are books to read and re-read all over again.
